This is a chest from the Shonai region, featuring eye-catching snow-crystal (yukiwara) lock plates modeled after snow, traditionally regarded as the essence of the five grains.
Centered around the main lock plate, which almost resembles a multi-petaled flower (rinka), it harmonizes with fan-shaped (gunbai) pulls, leaf-like corner ornaments, and softly rounded hardware.
Despite its dignified black-lacquered finish, it exudes a uniquely approachable and gentle charm.
