こちらは現在発売されている版画集の表紙にも採用されている畦地梅太郎の代表的な作品です。
全国の山々をモチーフとし、戦後は山男や動物、自然を描き独自の世界を確立した畦地梅太郎。近年版画集の発刊やモンベルのTシャツにも採用されるなど、生あるものへの温かなの眼差しが感じられる版画作品や随筆集は今でも世代を問わず多くの人々に愛されています。

【畦地梅太郎　略歴】
1902年　愛媛県北宇和郡二名村(現在の宇和島市)に生まれる
1920年　上京後、内閣印刷局にて勤務　鉛版を始める。
1936年　版画集『伊豫風景』を発表。
1937・1940年　国画奨学賞を受賞
1950年代 山男を題材にした作品の制作を開始
1973年　愛媛県立美術館で「とぼとぼ50年展」を開催。
1976年　東京都町田市鶴川に転居。日本版画協会名誉会員。
1991年　町田市立国際版画美術館にて畦地梅太郎版画展開催。
1999年　肺炎のため永眠(享年96)。

This is one of Umetaro Azechi's representative works, which is also used as the cover of a print collection currently on sale.
Using the mountains of Japan as his motif, Umetaro Azechi established his unique world after the war by depicting mountain men, animals, and nature. In recent years, his print collections have been published and adopted for Montbell T-shirts, and his print works and essay collections, which convey a warm gaze toward living things, are still loved by many people across generations.

[Azechi Umetaro Biography]
1902 Born in Kita-Uwa County, Ehime Prefecture (now Uwajima City)
1920 Moved to Tokyo and began working at the Government Printing Bureau,  he started working with lead plates.
1936 Published the print collection “Iyo Landscape.”
1937 and 1940 Received the National Painting Scholarship Award
1950s: Began creating works featuring mountain man themes.  
1973: Held the “Tobo Tobo 50 Years Exhibition” at the Ehime Prefectural Museum of Art.  
1976: Moved to Tsurukawa, Machida City, Tokyo.  Became an honorary member of the Japan Print Association.  
1991: Held the Azechi Umetaro Print Exhibition at the Machida City International Print Museum.  
1999: Passed away due to pneumonia (aged 96).
